Euthanasia :: Death the Dearest.       The Supreme Court has recently called for a nationwide debate on euthanasia. Having seen more deaths from close quarters than most, and having been witness to such existential dilemmas in the past, i too am throwing my hat in the debating ring.      More than a decade ago i was faced with the terrifying moral dilemma of taking such a decision on behalf of a loved one whose life had reached terminal stage. In spite of best available medic al care by doctors, my loved one was deeply unconscious & life sustained purely on artificial support. Earlier, with full faculties intact and in a healthy state, the loved one had made it unequivocally clear to me & friends that since body is but a tool for conciousness to manifest itself, (like electricity & transmission wires) life would be meaningless without a synergy between the two. ---बढ़ते अपराध के  व्यूह से निजात कैसे ?      बदायूं से लेकर बेंगलोर तक पुनः बर्बरता का प्रदर्शन हुआ है । चाहे 6 वर्ष की शहरी अबोध कन्या हो या ग्रामीण महिला,  इन सब के साथ   क्रूरतापूर्ण दुष्कर्म  की घटनाएँ  भारत सहित विश्वभर में खबर बन रही है । इतनी की, बड़े बड़े राजनेता भी  कह रहे हैं  की समाज को आत्ममंथन की जरूरत है । ये लोग यह भी कह रहे हैं की सरकार ने अपराधों से और प्रभावी ढंग से निपटने के लिए कानून को मजबूत बनाने के कार्य को तेजी से आगे बढ़ाया है । मीडिया में चल रही लगातार बहस के दौरान भी भारत के बुद्धिजीवी कुछ ऐसी ही बातें करते तथा कड़ी से कड़ी सजा के हिमायती दिख रहे हैं  ।       टीवी एंकरों, राजनेताओं  की मानें तो पूरा समाज दोषी है, और बुद्धिजीवियों की माने तो हर दोषी को फांसी होनी चाहिए । इन दोनों की राय लागू  हो जाय तो भारत से मनुष्य प्रजाति डायनोसार के सामान लुप्त हो जायेगी । आश्चर्य है की भारत के  जिम्मेदार लोग यह भी नहीं जानते की समाज में अपराधियों की संख्या 2% से भी कम होती है, तथा ऐसे अपराधी तत्वों से शेष 98% सज्जनों को सुरक्षा प्रदान करने हेतु ही पुल
